Your journey, your pace, your place.
Progressive overload is the concept of gradually increasing the intensity of your workouts to promote ongoing improvement (body adaptation). Weightlifting is a common method of progressive overload, as it challenges your muscles by progressively increasing the weight lifted, leading to muscle growth and increased strength.
Weightlifting also offers benefits such as improved bone density, joint stability, metabolism, and body composition when performed with proper form and technique.
This is why access to a gym is so great (as we have more and better tools to slowly increase progressive overload and our body’s adaptations) but all of this can be done at home with the right equipment.
So to start out I recommend…(especially if you’re new)
Bonuses:
It’s a small one-time investment but is well, well worth the payoff.
The journey ahead is about more than just training. It's about creating a long, healthy, and strong life. I want you to continue enjoying your favorite activities, whether that's gardening, playing with your grandchildren, carrying heavy luggage through the airport, hiking, or simply being able to tackle your everyday tasks feeling strong and with ease and confidence. Our approach addresses your physical needs, but it also cultivates a system that helps you manage stress effectively.
Training with me is about fostering a balanced lifestyle that values rest, work, and play – two of which are elements that our society often overlooks. In our sessions, you'll find that movement is an expression of being alive, a celebration of your capability and potential.
I'm here to guide you through the complexities of fitness. I’ll take care of the How & When - planning and execution so you can focus on showing up and developing your Why, what is driving you to feel this way eventually leading to a transformation of the body and mind - your identity will be that of a much healthier person.
Together, we'll work to create personalized, efficient, and evolving programs that suit your ever-changing needs. I will guide you and provide support when motivation wanes or stress/life gets in the way.
Our sessions may also include optional breathwork and mini-meditation exercises to cool down and reset your mind. As you grow stronger and more confident, we'll introduce novelty and fun, maybe even skills like headstanding – always prioritizing your comfort and interest.
“Good health is a crown on the head of a well person that only a sick person can see.” — ROBIN SHARMA
I’m Emma a fitness coach and yoga teacher, gamer, and digital creator whose goal is to help you improve your quality of life, and relationship to fitness, and help you find more balance using both movement and mindfulness.
I have a bachelor’s in biology, am a certified yoga teacher, and am currently working on a personal trainer certification.
I come from a background of anxiety and in general physical and mental health struggles for most of my life. I was as a child, very active - tried loads of sports but highly sensitive. I found myself frequently shutting down and this resulted in finding a place to deal with all the noise and overwhelm - I found this through gaming, which resulted (during my teenage years) in a lack of movement.
🎮 A Note on Gaming
For those, you haven’t gamed or don’t really understand it - let me explain it a little. It is not inherently bad, it is art, just as the film is, a beautiful way to experience a story and explore new worlds visually, audibly, and in an incredibly interactive, challenging, and immersive way. And, just like with books and movies, people put their life into building these worlds and stories, which takes enormous effort. Furthermore, poor health can be isolating, and gaming can be a way to help reconnect those suffering with peers of their age and form friendships when physically it is difficult.
⚖️ That being said, the problem occurs when there is a lack of balance.
Because of my issues, I would often escape to these worlds, it was the only world I felt I was able to control - I did not have to fear.
Slowly I started to fix this, escaping less, and focusing on what I could control - my health, my experiences/exposure, and my thoughts. I began my journey with yoga and mindfulness through this I helped calm my mind, learned tools to help my anxiety, and reconnect to my body. I then dabbled in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and learned the benefits of good relationships, community, like-minded people, and their influence and how that affects our perspectives on movement as a whole. Finally, I found my strength and resilience through weightlifting.
These things transformed my life, views, and thoughts for the better. I began to see the power and transformative potential of these crucial yet often. I started to want to teach yoga and now general fitness to those who wanted/needed it.
However, recently I’ve had another run-in with poor health and have been struggling yet again, but it just resolidified why I’m doing what I’m doing. You have one life (a little cringy I know) and the quality of that life is so important.
